Day 6 results, highlights and analysis are up on The Fight Site for you to check out now! (link)
Before I tease this day’s action, I just wanted to share that yesterday I taped an episode of the Co-Main Event podcast with Chad Dundas and Ben Fowlkes. Their community are starting to get into sumo, so they invited me on to share my story about how and why I started covering the sport. And I also answered some questions about the sport and some of the characters we are watching this tournament.
I really enjoyed chatting with them and it was pretty neat for me. I’ve been working in the combat sports space for close to a decade and I’ve always looked up to Chad and Ben as examples to follow. I really appreciate the community they have fostered and I respect how they’ve operated for so long without being “access guys” like many others who find both popularity and longevity covering MMA.

Ok, back to the dohyo. Day 6 continued to deliver twists and turns. We have a pretty defined leading pack at this point, but I can’t tell you which of those will be the contenders once we get to the last days of the tournament.
We had some great bouts on Day 6. My favourite was the long battle between former ozeki Takayasu and Mitakeumi. Tobizaru vs. Hoshoryu was a lot of fun, too. We also had tournament leader Abi hoping to keep his san’yaku streak alive versus Kotonowaka.
Bonus gif is from Day 4, when Takakeisho sent Ura sliding.
Enjoy your content, and the interview on the CME. Thanks.
