This tournament is really something. We’ve had some very technical days on the dohyo, but it feels like Day 4 brought the violence. There were some great moves and sequences, but I’ll mostly be remembering the bouts that ended rather viciously.
It’s still early in the basho, but a leading pack is starting to develop. And it has both expected and unexpected faces. I love that combo!
My matches of the day include Kotonowaka vs. Takanosho, Hoshoryu vs. Oho, Onosho vs. Gonoyama, Terunofuji vs. Meisei, Abi vs. Wakamotoharu, Kinbozan vs. Tamawashi and Shonannoumi vs. Mitakeumi.
The results, highlights, and analysis are up on The Fight Site for you to enjoy (hopefully). (link)
Bonus gif today is Atamifuji watching… you tell me!
Onosato came to play in the Haru Basho didn't he. Love the speed and physicality he's showing. Lot of surprises though and a couple of the top-ranked guys look a little...distracted is probably the right word.
