We are rumbling towards the end of this tournament and I think we are in for a very exciting conclusion. We’ve been treated to great matches and storylines this basho and there is still time left for things to completely turn on their head.
Day 12’s results, analysis and highlights are up on The Fight Site for you to enjoy now. (link)
The main attraction on this day was Hoshoryu vs. Takerufuji. We also had Kotonowaka vs. Onosato. So two bouts pitting ‘legacy rikishi’ against young up and comers (who aren’t that much younger than their ozeki opponents).
Other great bouts to check out are Sadanoumi vs. Daiamami, Ura vs. Meisei, Gonoyama vs. Daieisho and Asanoyama vs. Takanosho.
Bonus gif of the day highlights Kinbozan’s quick hips (from Day 1).
This basho has been remarkable for the poor results of its top-level guys; plus I've been taking note of how mis-timed and overall sloppy the starts of bouts have been allowed to be.
Wonder what the gyoji are thinking, or have been told? Way too many uncalled "matta" every day.
What the heck is wrong with Kirishima?
