Results, analysis, highlights, all that good stuff for Day 10 are now up on The Fight Site. Go here to check ‘em out. (link)
The big story from Day 10 was the meeting between unlikely leaders Takerufuji and Onosato. Their bout is a must-see, as it has tremendous implications for the rest of the basho.
Other bouts you should check out are those involving the chasing pack, which includes three of our four ozeki.
Takakeisho vs. Daieisho, Kotonowaka vs. Oho and Hoshoryu vs. Wakamotoharu were all interesting contests. One of which could be called a little controversial.
As far as bouts to watch for pure entertainment value, I highly recommend Meisei vs. Asanoyama and Kirishima vs. Hiradoumi.
Our bonus gif today is Takerufuji’s victory over Churanoumi on Day 6. I’ve been so impressed with his speed and compact power this tournament. I also dig the Donatello coloured mawashi.
Now the young men have their hands full for real, facing Ozekis.
Motivated Ozekis, at that; which guarantees they're gonna be bad news for anyone other side of the shikiri-sen.
